In June 2023, the City of Spring Hill applied for and received a Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant from Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to support the construction of a connector for the Peter Jenkins Greenway. Two previous sections of the greenway were completed in 2012.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) approved Resolution 21-156 to apply for the TAP grant on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
BOMA approved the $1,417,459.90 grant, as well as a $294,291.90 match from the City, on Monday, November 6, 2023. They also awarded the contract for construction to engineering, planning, and design firm Kimley-Horn, who also built the two previous sections of the greenway.
A construction date has not yet been established as a final design still needs to be completed and approved by TDOT.
