Rippavilla named 'Best Wedding Venue' in Maury County

The City of Spring Hill is proud to announce Rippavilla Plantation was recently honored among the annual Best of Maury County Awards for "Best Wedding Venue.”

The Best of Maury County Awards have been presented annually to local businesses, services and venues for the past 14 years by The Daily Herald in Columbia, recognizing the top three winners in each of 120 categories based on voting by the publication’s print and online readers.

“Best Wedding Venue” is a relatively new category, only being in its second year, said Craig Duncan, vice president of sales and marketing and acting general manager at The Daily Herald. Rippavilla took the top honor in that category, which was personally awarded to the recipients at a “Best of Maury County” Banquet last week. Rippavilla also has won multiple times in past years in the “Best Tourist Attraction” category.

Historic Rippavilla Plantation in Spring Hill is a beautiful Greek revival style mansion constructed in the 1850s, functioning today as a popular tourist destination and the site of many lively annual events. When Rippavilla is not hosting exciting fundraising events, such as “Swanky Plank Vintage Marketplace” and “Vines & Vintage Wine, Antique and Artisan Market,” it remains an ideal setting for weddings, receptions and other private functions.

Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the stately 19th Century home served as residence to the Cheairs family and later played a major role during the Civil War, especially in the Battle of Spring Hill. Today, it’s complete with original Cheairs family heirlooms, antiques and Civil War artifacts; and it boasts an enchanting courtyard in the rear and magnificently manicured grounds. Rippavilla also hosted its first bridal fair this past spring to showcase area wedding-related businesses and vendors.

“We greatly appreciate The Daily Herald and its readers for recognizing what a magnificent treasure Rippavilla is for those looking for a venue to celebrate one of the happiest days of their lives,” said Spring Hill Economic Development Coordinator Kayce Williams, who chairs the mayoral-appointed Rippavilla Task Force overseeing the transition of the historic property into City operations.

The Daily Herald will print a final special section the last Thursday of September listing all 120 “Best of Maury County” winners along with photos of all recipients who attended the award banquet.

Rippavilla Plantation and its 98-acre grounds recently were accepted by the City of Spring Hill as a donation by Rippavilla Inc. to ensure the property’s long-term preservation, expand tourist opportunities in Spring Hill, and to provide passive park land for our residents.
