The City of Spring Hill Water System will flush approximately 1800 fire hydrants throughout The City beginning April 5, 2021. This activity ensures proper operation and helps maintain high water quality. Flushing hydrants often causes the water to appear cloudy, however, there is no health hazard since the cloudy appearance results from air becoming trapped in the water as a result of the flushing process. This trapping of air in the water is called “aeration.” Should cloudiness occur, the water should clear up within a short period of time after enough water use occurs to purge the aerated water from the affected plumbing. If the cloudy appearance continues more than twenty-four (24) hours, please call the City of Spring Hill at 931-486-2252, ext. 279.
