SPRING HILL, TN -The City of Spring Hill is proud of, and excited about, General Motors' announcement today regarding their $2B investment into its Spring Hill manufacturing facility. Effective immediately, GM will begin extensive expansion of its paint and body departments, as well as a complete overhaul of its general assembly line to accommodate production of the brand new Cadillac Lyriq. The Spring Hill plant now becomes GM's third U.S. electric car factory following the Orion Assembly and Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plants in Michigan.

Mayor Rick Graham fully supported the news saying, "This is another great milestone in vehicle manufacturing for Spring Hill — from our rich history with Saturn, to this announcement today — and for decades to come with the next generation of electric vehicles." He further added, "We appreciate General Motors for this sizable investment, and positioning its state-of-the-art plant with the best workforce in the world, UAW Local 1853."

The Spring Hill facility, which was originally the home for Saturn manufacturing, currently builds the Cadillac XT5, XT6, GMC Acadia and several powertrains for various GM models. The Lyriq SUV will be Cadillac’s first all-electric model and built on GM’s new Ultium battery-powered platform with range of over 300 miles per charge. The sticker price will be under $75,000, and plans to compete with Tesla and is "serious about an all-electric future."
